Working as an au pair Belgium

Working as an au pair Belgium

An au pair is a young person who temporarily lives with a family and receives board and lodging in return for small everyday family tasks with the aim of improving his/her language skills and increasing his/her general knowledge of the country by participating in the life of the host family.

The family can not employ the au pair until all the necessary authorisations have been obtained (occupation permit and work permit).

The validity of the occupation permit and work permit for au pairs is one year only.

The occupation permit and work permit for au pairs may be renewed once on the condition that the placement does not exceed a total duration of one year.
